A vertical garter-rib pattern subtly plays against the horizontal nature of the contrasting stripes on this button-down vest, worked in one piece to the armhole openings.We chose a smoky gray and chocolate color combo, but any hues to suit his taste will do.

Tuffy 2-Ply by Briggs & Little, 4oz/113g skeins, each approx 215yd/197m (wool/nylon)
• 4 (4, 5, 5, 6) skeins in #87 smoke (MC)
• 2 (2, 3, 3, 3) skeins in #90 cocoa (CC)
• Sizes 6 and 8 (4 and 5mm) circular needles, 32″/81cm long OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE
• Size 6 (4mm) circular needle, 16″/40cm long
• One pair size 8 (5mm) needles
• Stitch holders and stitch markers
• Five 1″/25mm buttons
