I have a flag obsession that goes back to childhood. Inspired by our country’s patriotism that is roused during the Olympics, and living in Washington, DC, with many friends in politics or working for the government, I created these mitts as a way to show my pride in my country with a wave of my hand.

MATERIALS
• 1 4oz/113g hank (each approx 250yd/229m) of Dream in Color Classy (superfine merino wool) each in crying dove (MC), night watch (A) and lipstick (B)
OR
• 1 4oz/113g hank (each approx 245yd/224m) of Imperial Yarn Erin (wool) each in #01 Natural (MC), #327 Navy (A) and #352 Heart Red (B)
• One set (4) size 8 (5mm), double-pointed needles (dpns) or size to obtain gauge
• Stitch holder
• Stitch markers

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
• Hand Circumference: 7″/17.5cm
• Length of Cuff: Approx 2½”/6.5cm

GAUGE
18 sts and 24 rnds to 4″/10cm over St st using size 8 (5mm) dpns.
