A sideways four-color garter-stitch stripe graces a fringed scarf and matching pair of fingerless gloves, knit flat with short-row thumb gussets and joined with a three-needle bind-off. Create the scarf fringes by leaving tails at the beginning and end of each row. Easy!

MATERIALS
Rialto Chunky by Debbie Bliss/KFI, 1¾oz/50g balls, each approx 66yd/60m (wool)
SCARF
• 5 balls in #22 storm (A)
• 2 balls each in #2 silver (B), #11 denim (C) and #16 rose (D)
• One size 10 (6mm) circular needle, 40″/100cm long OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE
MITTS
• 1 ball each in #22 storm (A), #2 silver (B), #11 denim (C) and #16 rose (D)
• One pair size 8 (5mm) needles OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE
• One spare size 8 (5mm) needle
• Size 8/H (5mm) crochet hook for provisional cast on
• Stitch holder
Note 6 balls of A, 3 balls of B, and 2 balls each of C and D are needed to complete both projects.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
SCARF
• Approx 10½ x 60″/26.5 x 152.5cm
MITTS
• Hand circumference 7″/18cm
• Length 7½”/19cm

GAUGES
• 16 sts and 34 rows to 4″/10cm over garter st using size 8 (5mm) needles;
• 14 sts and 28 rows to 4″/10cm over garter st using size 10 (6mm) needles.
