North takes her knitting in a new direction. The shawl—in Noro Silk Garden Sock colorway #S373, an oceanic blend of cobalt, jade, indigo and violet—is worked from side to side with stepped shaping formed by binding off at one edge of a row and casting on at the other. A simple four-row lace repeat and garter edges keep the focus on the bold waves of color.

• Size 8 (5mm) circular needle, 24″/60cm long OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE

GAUGE
19 sts and 28 rows = 4″/10cm over lace pat using size 8 (5mm) needle.
