A child’s Fair Isle beret takes shape from the bottom up in six shades of Rialto 4-ply, an extrafine merino wool. The brim is knit in single rib; the hat is then increased from the rib up to a central point and then decreased to the crown.
MATERIALS
• One 50g/1¾oz ball (each approx 181m/198yd) Debbie Bliss/KFI Rialto 4-Ply (extrafine merino wool) each in Navy 13 (A), Aqua 12 (B), Salmon 8 (C), Dark Russet 11 (D), Ecru 2 (E) and Light Green 15 (F)
• Pair each 2.75mm (US 2) and 3mm (US 3) knitting needles OR SIZE TO OBTAIN TENSION
KNITTED MEASUREMENTS
• Sized to fit 1–2 (2–3) years and shown for 1–2 years.
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
• Two sizes.
TENSION
• 30 sts and 40 rows to 10cm/4in square over Fair Isle St st using 3mm (US 3) needles.
TAKE TIME TO CHECK TENSION.
